Learning Modality Testing
The MMPALT-III is a specialized performance test that evaluates recall across seven perceptual modalities to identify an individual's predominant learning style. Administered by certified professionals, this assessment provides valuable insights into how people of all ages process information through senses such as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic interactions.

Educational Research
Our systematic research initiatives examine the intersection of instructional design and cognitive development to foster more effective learning environments. We provide actionable data that helps institutions implement proven strategies for enhancing student engagement and long-term success.

PMPS Assessment
The PMPS survey provides comprehensive insights into individual learning styles to help educators and learners optimize their instructional strategies. By identifying specific sensory preferences, this assessment empowers participants to leverage their natural strengths for improved academic and professional performance.
The Research and Science Behind Our Approach

Decades of research in the making
Our History and Roots
The Institute for Learning Styles Research (ILSR) officially started in 1996, but our work actually goes back to the early 1970s at the University of Tennessee. A group of dedicated researchers founded the institute to standardize the Multi-Modal Paired Associates Learning Test (MMPALT). This long history means every assessment we offer is backed by years of study and proven results, providing a foundation you can actually trust.

Research that meets real-world standards
Backed by Science
The effectiveness of our assessments is backed by over 20 graduate dissertations and peer-reviewed studies from major universities like Oklahoma State and the University of South Florida. We focus on seven specific ways people take in information: print, sound, interaction, sight, touch, movement, and smell. By looking at these different channels, we can pinpoint exactly how to make learning more effective for everyone.
